Osteoinmotion offers expert manual osteopathy and movement therapy in Sooke, BC, addressing chronic pain and dysfunction.

Tara’s clinical approach is backed by over two decades of dedicated study in bodywork, movement, and neuromuscular rehabilitation. Her journey began at the Yoga Studio of Calgary in 2000, laying a deep foundation in movement mechanics, postural awareness, and breathwork. Over the years, she expanded her expertise into advanced Trauma-Informed and Therapeutic Yoga, learning to tailor movement practices to support nervous system regulation, injury recovery, and emotional well-being.

In 2019, Tara formalised her 550hr level with a Critical Alignment focus, working with Danielle Pechie at Yoga Therapy and Bodywork, integrating a deeper knowledge of spinal care.

As a graduate of the National Academy of Osteopathy in 2024 and a member of the College of Registered Manual Osteopaths, she blends a deeply intuitive awareness of movement with clinical expertise.

Tara holds a Level 2 Certification in Neurokinetic Therapy® (NKT), an advanced functional manual therapy system that addresses movement dysfunction at its source: the motor control center of the brain. When injuries, repetitive strain, or postural imbalances occur, the brain’s Motor Control Center adapts by creating compensation patterns—often forcing certain muscles to overwork while suppressing others. NKT utilizes precise manual muscle testing to decode these dysfunctional relationships. By identifying which muscles are inhibited (underactive) and which are facilitated (overactive), Tara rewrites these faulty neural pathways, restoring efficient movement, relieving chronic strain, and producing long-term results.

OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathy emerged in the late 19th century, pioneered by American physician Dr. Andrew Taylor Still. Disillusioned by the harsh and often ineffective conventional medicine of his era, Dr. Still sought a more holistic approach—one centered on the body’s innate capacity for self-healing. He recognized that structural restrictions in the musculoskeletal system directly impact vascular, neurological, and organic function. To address these root causes, he developed specialized manual techniques designed to restore structural alignment, optimize fluid flow, and promote systemic health. In 1892, Dr. Still founded the American School of Osteopathy (now A.T. Still University) in Kirksville, Missouri, formally establishing osteopathy as a distinct medical discipline.

As the discipline evolved, Manual Osteopathy emerged to allow dedicated non-physician practitioners to apply these powerful manual principles. The practice remains grounded in two foundational tenets:

Structure Governs Function: Physical structure and physiological function are inextricably linked. The mechanical and structural integrity of tissues, joints, and fascia directly dictates how well the nervous, circulatory, and organ systems perform. Health and disease are ultimately conditioned by the structural state of the body.History of yoga

The Body is a Self-Healing Mechanism: Given the right conditions, the body possesses a natural tendency toward health, self-regulation, and recovery.

YOGA

Yoga has a rich and multifaceted history spanning thousands of years. Originating in ancient India, it evolved as a holistic discipline uniting mind, body, and spirit. The earliest foundational references appear in ancient sacred texts like the Vedas (composed between 1500 and 500 BCE). Over centuries, distinct lineages developed—each exploring specific dimensions of human well-being through meditation (dhyana), breathwork (pranayama), and physical postures (asana).

In the modern era, yoga expanded globally, evolving into an accessible practice embraced worldwide for its profound physical and mental benefits. Out of this evolution arose Therapeutic Yoga—an integrative field that bridges ancient movement traditions with contemporary health and rehabilitation principles.

Unlike general group classes, Therapeutic Yoga tailors specific postures, targeted breathwork, and mindfulness techniques to an individual’s unique anatomy, health history, and recovery goals. Whether you are navigating chronic pain, recovering from an injury, managing a systemic condition, or seeking stress regulation, Therapeutic Yoga provides a personalized, evidence-informed pathway toward lasting balance.
